As students across the state start to return to school, Medshore Ambulance is inviting career-seekers to join a different kind of classroom, one where saving lives is part of the curriculum. Applications are now open for the fall session of the EMS Training Academy in Anderson, South Carolina. The 12-week course begins on September 1 and concludes on November 21.

The academy is designed to train and certify the next generation of EMTs through a rigorous, hands-on educational experience. Upon successful completion of the program and licensure, graduates are offered full-time positions with Medshore Ambulance and commit to a minimum of 24 months of service.

“This program is more than just a course. It’s the launchpad to a career,” said Jason Cooke, vice president of operations for Medshore and Guardian Ambulance. “We’re investing in our students with paid training, full benefits, and a direct path to employment. It’s a win for our team, our patients, and our community.”

Classes are held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and include live instructor-led classroom sessions, lab simulations, and clinical rotations on active 911 units. Each participant must complete a minimum of 10 patient contacts and four field shifts during their clinical training.

Students enrolled in the academy receive a training wage of $15 per hour and are eligible for full-time employee benefits. Medshore Ambulance covers the cost of tuition, textbooks, uniforms, and fees for the National Registry exam — including up to two attempts within two months of completing the course. The company also provides job placement assistance and ongoing support as students transition from training into the field.

“Emergency medical services is one of the most accessible and rewarding career pathways in health care and public safety,” said David Abrams, regional president for Priority Ambulance, parent company for Medshore. “Whether you stay in EMS or grow into a clinical, logistics, or leadership role, our academy is the first step in what can be a lifelong career.”

To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid driver’s license, and successfully pass a pre-employment interview, testing, background screening, and drug screening.

Medshore Ambulance’s EMS Training Academies are part of the company’s broader workforce development strategy, known as the Priority Path. This initiative provides career ladders for EMS professionals at every stage, from EMT and paramedic to field training officer, critical care paramedic, supervisor, and beyond.
