Founded in 1976 by Pat and Mary Ellen Atkins, National EMS quickly established a reputation for quality and innovation. In 1983, National EMS became the first private ambulance company in Georgia to achieve national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS), a distinction we have upheld ever since. This milestone reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence.

Our highly trained EMTs and paramedics bring advanced medical expertise and compassionate care to every call, building trusted relationships with patients, healthcare facilities, and community partners. From 9-1-1 emergency response to pre-scheduled ambulance services, our mission is to provide safe, efficient medical transportation tailored to the needs of our communities.

As the contracted 9-1-1 emergency ambulance provider for Rockdale, Morgan, Oconee, and Athens-Clarke counties, National EMS also supports the University of Georgia Athletic Association as its preferred ambulance provider. Our partnerships with Athens Regional Medical Center and St. Mary’s Hospital further highlight our commitment to community health and well-being.
