As the calendar turns into a new year, Medshore Ambulance, a proud member of the Priority Ambulance family of companies, is celebrating a remarkable milestone: 50 years of dedicated service to communities across South Carolina.

Founded in 1976 by Greg Shore, Medshore has grown from a local ambulance service into a regional leader in emergency medical care. In 1987, the company secured the Anderson County 9-1-1 contract, establishing a partnership that remains strong nearly four decades later.  In 2001, under the leadership of the Shore family, Medshore became the first ambulance service in South Carolina to earn national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS).  That commitment to excellence continues today, with Medshore renewing its accreditation for the ninth consecutive time in 2025.

Medshore joined the Priority Ambulance network in 2017, enhancing its ability to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining deep local roots. In 2023, Medshore and Anderson County EMS were recognized as System of the Year (Category II-Large) at the South Carolina EMS Symposium. Most recently, Medshore became the first private, non-hospital EMS agency in South Carolina to earn Pediatric Ready EMS Agency status, awarded by the South Carolina Department of Public Health and South Carolina Emergency Medical Services for Children.

“Reaching our 50th anniversary is a tremendous milestone,” said Austin Sanders, Vice President of Operations. “Our success reflects the incredible dedication of our employees and the trust of the communities we serve. We look forward to continuing to provide exceptional care for generations to come.”

In celebration of the company’s 50th anniversary, Medshore will host events throughout the year to recognize employees, hospital and public safety partners, and community members who have made Medshore’s legacy of high-quality patient care possible.
