
21-year veteran succeeds retiring VPO Vinny Faraone
Utica, NY (June 4, 2025) – Kunkel Ambulance Service, a proud member of the Priority Ambulance family of companies, announced that Chad Smith has been promoted to Vice President of Operations, effective immediately. Smith succeeds Vinny Faraone, who is retiring from the position.
Smith joined Kunkel Ambulance as a paramedic in April 2003 and has advanced through multiple leadership roles, including training officer, supervisor, and director of operations support. In his most recent position, he oversaw field operations, technology systems, CAD management, electronic charting, and compliance reporting.
“Chad’s extensive experience and proven leadership make him the right choice for this role,” said Tony Anteau, Mid-State Regional President for Priority Ambulance. “His deep operational knowledge ensures a smooth transition and continued excellence in our services.”
Smith maintains New York State Certified Instructor Coordinator credentials and has trained hundreds of EMT candidates. He serves as chair of the Midstate Regional Emergency Medical Services Council and was recognized as an American Ambulance Association Stars of Life recipient in 2024.
